Quebec provincial police say the crash happened at 11 p.m. Wednesday night on Highway 148 near Fort-Coulonge, Que., about 120 kilometres northwest of Gatineau.

Police said a 48-year-old man from L’Île du Grand Calumet, Que., crossed the centre line and collided with the woman’s vehicle.

She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries while the man suffered minor injuries. The woman's condition later improved and she is expected to survive.
