Gurpreet Ronald next court appearance delayed to Sept. 11
Woman accused in death of Jagtar Gill in suspected love triangle
Gurpreet Ronald, accused of first-degree murder in the death of an Ottawa mother in January, will next appear in court in September, a judge ruled Wednesday.
Her body was discovered by her teenage daughter and her husband, who had been out shopping for cake and flowers to mark the occasion. The couple's two younger children were not home at the time.
Gill's husband, Bhupinderpal Gill, has also been charged with first-degree murder in the case.
Both of the accused were under surveillance for several weeks before being arrested and charged in April. It's believed that the pair were romantically involved.
On Wednesday, Ronald's bail hearing was delayed until she can find a new lawyer. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 11.
Any evidence heard in court is covered by a routine publication ban. That includes the reason Ronald's bail hearing was delayed.
Ronald in jail for past 4 months
Bhupinderpal Gill and Ronald are expected to be tried together, but their bail hearings will be held separately. Gill's bail hearing is scheduled for October.
Ronald has been in custody since her arrest. She is a married mother of two who lived in the same neighbourhood as the Gill family.
She also worked at OC Transpo with Bhupinderpal Gill, and it's alleged that the pair conspired together in the killing.
Police sources said at the time that Jagtar Gill was beaten before she was stabbed. A bloody metal bar was found in a wooded area near the crime scene.
