Four people were forced from their homes after a multi-residential house on Third Ave. in the Glebe was damaged in a two-alarm fire Monday afternoon.
Ottawa firefighters responded to the blaze at 150 Third Ave. shortly after 2 p.m. and discovered a fire had extended to the walls and loft of the two-storey building.
Everyone inside had fled the building once the fire began and a dog managed to escape through a broken window.
Firefighters put out the blaze Monday evening but have yet to determine a cause. Damage is estimated at about $500,000.
Power was out briefly from First Avenue to Fifth Avenue but later restored, according to Hydro Ottawa.
Police had closed Third Avenue from Bank Street to Lyon Street.
