A man is in stable, but critical, condition after Gatineau police found him severely injured inside his home this morning.

According to the Gatineau Police Service, Ottawa police stopped a 38-year-old driver in Centretown Saturday for violating the Highway Traffic Act. They said the man told police he had killed the owner of the vehicle.

Gatineau police were informed and went to the owner's house on Rue du Château in the Hull sector of Gatineau. They said the man was severely hurt in his upper body and was taken to hospital.

Police say he is in critical, but stable, condition.

The driver of the car has been arrested, but no charges have been laid.

The victim's name has not been released.
