A 32-year-old man from Gatineau, Que., is dead after a motorcycle crash in Gatineau Park on Monday night, RCMP say.

RCMP say the motorcyclist was attempting to pass a vehicle when he crashed into a guardrail near the Champlain Lookout in Gatineau Park. (CBC News)
It happened on the Champlain Parkway, near the Champlain Lookout, at about 8:30 p.m.

The motorcyclist was heading west along the parkway and was attempting to pass a vehicle when he crashed into a guardrail, RCMP said, adding that speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash.

Paramedics took the man to hospital in critical condition.

He succumbed to his injuries in hospital at about 4 a.m. Tuesday, RCMP said.

RCMP are investigating.
