Gatineau contractor charged with fraud in Ottawa
A Gatineau contractor is facing five charges of fraud related to unfinished construction jobs in Ottawa going back to 2010.
Ottawa police said some of the charges relate to complaints the contractor took money from clients but never finished the work, and in other cases sub-contractors were hired to complete the work but say they were never paid.
Some of the contracts started in 2010. Police said the total amount of money that has been defrauded is $44,330.46.
Manuel Clavette, 28, of Gatineau is facing three counts of fraud under $5,000 and two counts of fraud over $5,000.
Ottawa police say they believe there may be other victims of fraud and are asking people to contact east district investigator Det. Cyr-Pidcock at 613-236-1222, ext. 3335 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 (TIPS) or toll free at 1-800-222-8477.
