Freezing rain warning over for eastern Ontario, Gatineau
Rain expected in the afternoon, Environment Canada predicts
The last weekend of March began with a freezing rain warning for parts of eastern Ontario and Gatineau.
Environment Canada had issued the warning for Ottawa, Gatineau, Smiths Falls, Pembroke, Cornwall and Prescott and Russell areas early Friday morning.
It ended around 1:30 p.m.
The forecast for Ottawa said about two centimetres of snow would fall before the change to rain, with a high of 6 C.
Daytime highs are not expected to dip below freezing for the next week.
