The last weekend of March began with a freezing rain warning for parts of eastern Ontario and Gatineau.​

Environment Canada had issued the warning for Ottawa, Gatineau, Smiths Falls, Pembroke, Cornwall and Prescott and Russell areas early Friday morning.

It ended around 1:30 p.m.

The forecast for Ottawa said about two centimetres of snow would fall before the change to rain, with a high of 6 C.

Daytime highs are not expected to dip below freezing for the next week.
