A transformer may be responsible for an overnight fire at a home on Prince Albert Street, firefighters say.

Fire crews responded to the 1½-storey home at 120 Prince Albert St. shortly after 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

When they arrived, they noticed smoke was coming out of the home. The occupants were away at the time of the fire.

Firefighters also received reports of flickering lights in the neighbourhood, suggesting a possible transformer fire.

Hydro crews were dispatched to investigate.

The damage to the home was estimated at $90,000, with contents damage estimated at $45,000.
