The body of a female has been found by a farmer in a hay field near Kars and Osgoode in south Ottawa, police sources say.
The farmer was working on a tractor when he discovered the body on the field on Cabin Road near Nixon Road.
The call to police came in at about 9:15 a.m. Tuesday.
The body hasn't yet been identified. The body was removed from the scene Tuesday afternoon and police said a post mortem will be conducted Wednesday.
Police sources initially told CBC News the body was partially burned, but later said it appeared to be signs of decomposition.
The major crimes unit is investigating.
The Ottawa Police said its Emergency Services Unit would conduct a grid search of the area on Cabin Road between Nixon and River Roads for evidence.
