Father faces another charge after Ottawa toddler abducted
2-year-old son taken from barbecue around noon ET July 10, police say
An Ottawa man is facing another criminal charge after a two-year-old child was found safe after his alleged abduction last week.
The alleged abduction happened at about noon ET on July 10, police said.
An Amber Alert was issued around 2:40 p.m. ET and was cancelled less than half an hour later. The guns and gangs unit and major crimes unit were involved in the investigation.
The alleged male abductor, the toddler's father, was initially charged with disobeying a court order.
On Tuesday, police announced that the father is facing a second charge of abduction in contravention of a custody order.
He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
