A woman died in a crash on Highway 401 near Long Sault on Wednesday morning.

It happened on the highway's westbound lanes east of the Moulinette Road exit to Long Sault at about 7 a.m., OPP said in a media release.

For reasons so far unknown, a car heading west collided with a van that was also heading west, OPP said.

The collision caused the van to roll over and smash into the median.

The woman driving the van, 32-year-old Kristine Cadieux of Cornwall, Ont., was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 50-year-old passenger was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and lone occupant of the car, a 20-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.

Highway 401's westbound lanes were closed between Brookdale Avenue and Moulinette Road, but have since reopened.
