Ottawa Senators captain Erik Karlsson made waves on social media after a photo at Wednesday's practice showed him donning a new haircut sans his long flowing locks.

Karlsson, 25, has been known for his speed, his offence — and his hair.

Like the team's former captain Daniel Alfredsson, he decided to shave off the locks and go for aerodynamics.

The haircut comes just in time for the new season, which begins on Thursday in Buffalo, N.Y., against the Sabres.
