An elementary school student in Cornwall is facing a charge of assault after his teacher was slapped on the forearm on Monday, police say.

The incident happened on Campbell Street Monday afternoon during school hours, said Cornwall police spokesman Const. Andrew Arbic.

The alleged slap was "minor" and the teacher, a woman, didn't need any medical care, Arbic said.

The boy breached conditions that were set by police after a similar case of assault involving the same teacher.

The boy is facing one count of assault and two counts of breaching conditions, Arbic said.
