Two elderly women had their purses snatched from them in separate incidents last week in the Carlingwood-McKellar Park area.
Ottawa Police are investigating whether the two incidents, which occurred a day apart, are linked.
In the first incident on Wednesday, May 7, a 104-year-old woman was walking along a path in the Cleary Avenue-Richmond Road area when she was brushed by a man riding a bicycle and realized shortly after he had stolen her purse. The cyclist was described as a white man in his 40s.
In the second incident on Thursday, May 8, an 87-year-old woman was walking in the Prince Charles Road/Saville Row area when a man threw her to the ground, stole her purse and fled on foot, turning onto Black Friars Road.
She was taken to hospital with a broken arm and remains in hospital.
Police described the suspect in this case as a white male, 20-40 years of age, with black wavy or curly hair and wearing a black jacket.
