Elderly woman in critical condition after being hit by OC Transpo bus

An 87-year-old woman was taken to hospital in critical condition Monday morning after being struck by a double-decker OC Transpo bus near the Carlingwood Shopping Centre.

Police asking witnesses to come forward

An 87-year-old woman was taken to hospital in critical condition Monday morning after being struck by a double-decker OC Transpo bus near the Carlingwood Shopping Centre.

It happened at about 10 a.m. on Carling Avenue near Woodroffe Avenue, Ottawa police said.

The woman suffered "traumatic head injuries," paramedics said.

The 41-year-old bus driver and the passengers on board were not injured, police said.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward.

Carling Avenue was closed from Iroquois Road to Woodroffe Avenue for several hours as police investigated but re-opened before 3 p.m., police said.
