A 95-year-old man has died from his injuries after he was struck while walking at a west Ottawa intersection.

Paramedics responded just before 11 a.m. to the intersection of Carling and Maitland avenues for a pedestrian struck.

They treated the man for life-threatening head and chest injuries after he was struck by a small SUV.

The man was without vital signs when an off-duty paramedic arrived at the scene and began issuing CPR. He also did not have vital signs when he arrived at hospital.

Ottawa police are investigating the collision and Carling Ave. remains closed westbound nearing Maitland.
