The East Nepean Eagles are heading to the Little League World Series after beating a team from British Columbia Sunday to win the Canadian title.
The Eagles upset the White Rock All-Stars 5-1 Sunday in Glace Bay, N.S. to capture the Little League Junior Canadian Championship.
A team from British Columbia had won eight straight Canadian titles before the loss, and White Rock had been undefeated in this year's tournament heading into the final game.
East Nepean won its last Canadian title in 2004, the year before White Rock began its eight-year run.
The team of 11- and 12-year-old boys were representing Ontario at the tournament and on Monday will travel directly to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to represent Canada in the Little League World Series.
