A 56-year-old man died after his vehicle rolled into a ditch and ended upside down in a ravine south of Regional Road 174 in Cumberland.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at 2:18 p.m. Monday and found the driver of the car trapped in the vehicle and without vital signs.

Firefighters removed the man from the vehicle and paramedics attempted unsuccessfully to revive him.

The incident happened off the 174 between Kinsella Drive and Old Montreal Road in Cumberland.

There were also three large dogs in the vehicle who are currently in the care of family members, firefighters said.

Paramedics said one of the dogs had a broken hip.

Ottawa police are investigating the incident.
