Driver charged with running red light in Highway 17 crash
Tractor-trailer, SUV collide sending two people to hospital, police say
Ontario Provincial Police have charged the driver of a tractor-trailer with running a red light and causing a crash on Highway 17.
Police say the truck and an SUV collided on the highway at Doran Road, which is just south of Petawawa, at about 9:45 a.m. Sunday.
Two people inside the SUV, a 33-year-old female driver and her 44-year-old husband, were taken to hospital in serious condition, but they are expected to survive. The truck driver was not hurt.
The driver, who is from Gatineau, faces a charge of failing to stop at a red light.
The highway was closed for about four hours while police investigated, but it reopened Sunday afternoon.
