Ottawa police are investigating after a 21-year-old man was rushed to hospital in a downtown stabbing.
Police and paramedics responded just after 10:10 p.m. Friday to the intersection of Rideau Street and Mackenzie Avenue.
When on scene, paramedics said they aggressively treated the man who was deemed in critical condition with multiple stab wounds.
There was “significant hemorrhaging,” paramedics said, and they tried to stabilize the man with IV fluids.
In hospital, the stabbing victim underwent surgery and paramedics said he is expected to survive.
Ottawa police did close the area where the stabbing occurred for a few hours overnight, but the roads have since reopened. Police continue to investigate.
