Gatineau man killed, 2 injured in crash near Thurso, Que.

One man is dead and two people are injured after a collision on Highway 148 west of Thurso, Que., early Saturday morning, according to police.

Early morning crash happened after driver ended up in oncoming traffic

A Gatineau man is dead and two people are injured after a collision on Highway 148 west of Thurso, Que., early Saturday morning, according to police. 

A 26-year-old woman driving east found herself, for unknown reasons, in the opposite lane at 3 a.m. between Pagé Road and Montée Berndt, Sureté du Québec said. 

Another vehicle carrying two passengers was unable to avoid a collision, police said.

Police say the driver of the that vehicle, a 29-year-old man, died in hospital after sustaining extremely serious injuries. His passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.  

The woman in the first vehicle sustained serious injuries. Police extricated her from her car and transported her to the hospital.

Highway 148 was closed between Pagé Road and Montée Berndt until around noon Saturday.
