Cantley couple busted for grow-op after accidental 911 call
700 plants, 600 grams of marijuana found in west Quebec home
A Cantley, Que., couple is facing charges of producing marijuana, theft of electricity and negligent storage of firearms after mistakenly calling 911 on Saturday.
MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais police said in a news release that the caller meant to dial 411 but punched in 911 by mistake.
Officers followed protocol in responding to the call from 172 Ste-Élisabeth Rd. and found more than 700 marijuana plants in the basement, along with 600 grams in bulk marijuana.
Officers also found production equipment, cash and firearms.
Hydro-Québec cut power to the home after it was discovered a device was installed to steal power, police said.
A couple, aged 37 and 43, were arrested and have since been released from custody, police said.
