On Monday the City of Ottawa honoured 11 young people who had the presence of mind to dial 911 when they found someone in danger.

Since it was established in 1998, the 911 Children’s Achievement Awards, in partnership with Bell Canada, annually recognizes children under age 12 who effectively use the 9-1-1 service.

Monday's ceremony was the 16th to be held annually in Ottawa.
