City of Gatineau to look into warehouse collapse
Pieces of building on Hanson Street fell on four cars
Gatineau Mayor Marc Bureau has asked city staff for a report on the collapse of a municipal warehouse on Saturday that crushed four cars.
Chunks of concrete fell from the building at 81 Hanson St. and onto parked vehicles nearby. No one was injured.
The city demolished the site for safety reasons, according to city spokesman Alain d'Entremont.
The exact cause of the collapse is not yet known. The weight of snow and ice on the roof of the building may have been a factor in the collapse.
The warehouse, located in the Hull area on land purchased by the city in 2003, was set to be demolished in the near future, though no timetable had been established.
