Rita Celli, the host of CBC Radio's Ontario Today, was awarded the Michener-Deacon Fellowship for investigative reporting on Wednesday evening.

Celli, based in Ottawa, plans to research who is reaping the profits from Ontario's multibillion-dollar mining industry.

She will examine public policy questions surrounding funds generated from the mining industry, and her work will be published on all platforms — radio, television and online.

Celli has held numerous reporting and hosting positions in both radio and television. She began her on-air career at CBC in Sudbury before moving to CBC Ottawa in 1994.

Ontario Today is a news and call-in program on CBC Radio One, which airs weekdays province-wide at 12 p.m. ET.
