A cargo ship on its way to Chicago has run aground on the St. Lawrence Seaway near Prescott, Ont., according to the Transportation Safety Board.

A vessel called the M.V. Sedna Desgagne was stranded just after 8 a.m. Sunday while passing near a bridge.

TSB spokesman John Cottreau said it's unclear how many people were on board but no injuries have been reported.

The ship was carrying a load of unprocessed steel.

Three inspectors were on site to assess the cause of the accident.

Cottreau said other marine traffic hasn't been affected.
