Electrical failure in a Canadian Blood Services trailer is the suspected cause of a south Ottawa warehouse fire Saturday morning.

Ottawa fire officials said they started getting calls about smoke and flames coming from the warehouse near 125 Colonnade Road South just after 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Crews arrived and had the fire under control within an hour, with no injuries reported.

However, an estimated $1.1 million damage was done to the trailer, another vehicle and the building itself.

It’s not immediately clear how the trailer fire will affect Canadian Blood Services.
