Bystanders lift car off trapped man on Ottawa's Bayshore Drive
Man, 55, was conscious and alert when paramedics arrived at scene
A 55-year-old man is recovering in hospital after a car fell on him and was lifted off by three people on Thursday afternoon.
Ottawa paramedics said they were called to a residential complex on Bayshore Drive at about 3:10 p.m. after a man was pinned under a car.
They said he was working under the car when a jack supporting it lost hydraulic pressure, causing it to fall on his chest.
He yelled out for help and three bystanders came to the rescue by lifting the car and pulling him away.
Paramedics said he was conscious and alert when they arrived at the scene.
He was taken to hospital, where he was listed in serious, stable condition.
