An Ottawa construction worker was thrown into the air after being struck by a high-pressure water hose Friday.

The 37-year-old man is in hospital being treated for a potential head injury and is in stable condition, according to paramedics.

The man was struck in the chest after the hose near a water truck ruptured at Bank and Gloucester streets, throwing him more than three feet into the air before landing on the hood of a minivan.

He has no recollection of the incident that happened at about 3 p.m., paramedics said.
