Police have confirmed a body pulled out of the Ottawa River on Tuesday afternoon is that of 24-year-old Mykhaylo Novikov, whose dinghy capsized in the Deschênes Rapids on June 1.

An extensive search was launched for Novikov after his dinghy capsized. He was not wearing a life jacket.

Another man who was with Novikov in a separate dinghy survived.

Around 11 a.m. Tuesday, a cyclist crossing the Alexandra Bridge reported seeing a body in the river to the east.

The body was identified by a coroner. Foul play is not suspected.
