Body found in Ottawa River near Chaudière Bridge

The badly decomposed body of a man wearing construction clothing was found in the Ottawa River Tuesday at a hydro station near the Chaudière Bridge.

Body belongs to a male in his 50s, was wearing winter construction clothes

Police dive teams were called to the Ottawa River near the Chaudière Bridge on Tuesday afternoon after a hydro worker spotted a badly decomposed body. (CBC)

The badly decomposed body of a man wearing construction clothing was found in the Ottawa River Tuesday at a hydro station near the Chaudière Bridge.

A hydro employee saw the body and called police at 12:46 p.m. The Ottawa Police Service marine-dive unit is investigating.

Sources told CBC News the man was wearing a heavy jacket, construction boots and gloves. 

An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death. The man has not yet been identified.

Police are checking missing person cases in Ottawa and Gatineau.
