Body found in Ottawa River confirmed as missing Kanata man

A body found in the Ottawa River at the Hull Marina has been confirmed as 67-year-old Jehangir Balsara who had been missing since Monday.

A body found in the Ottawa River near the Gatineau shoreline has been confirmed as 67-year-old Jehangir Balsara who had been missing since Monday.

Balsara disappeared on Monday afternoon and his vehicle was found on Bate Island — halfway across the Champlain Bridge between Ottawa and Gatineau — after police received information about it at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

Officers searched the ground and water near Bate Island Thursday night and during the day Friday. The water search ended Friday afternoon. 

On Friday at 3:30 p.m., Gatineau police reported a body found near the Hull Marina.

It was taken to the Hull hospital and Ottawa police later confirmed the body belonged to Balsara.
