Two men are in serious condition in hospital after a two-vehicle collision in Barrhaven Wednesday night.

A pickup truck and minivan collided on Prince of Wales Drive south of Woodroffe Avenue at about 8:40 p.m.

Paramedics, police and firefighter all responded to the scene, with firefighters having to work to extricate both drivers from their vehicles.

One of the drivers, a 35-year-old man, was treated for lower leg injuries while the other driver, 37, was treated for neck, chest, back and hip injuries. Neither vehicle was carrying any passengers.

It was raining steadily and roads were wet at the time of the collision.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
