Arnprior man charged in former schoolmate's slaying
Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 22-year-old man with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Brodie Armstrong of Arnprior, Ont.
Armstrong, 21, died from injuries suffered Wednesday night when he was found on the ground beside a vehicle along Russell Street North in Arnprior, about a 45-minute drive west of Ottawa.
The vehicle, which was registered in Armstrong's name, had crashed through a fence and into a home.
Police have now charged Jesse Gervais, also of Arnprior, with first-degree murder after he was arrested by police in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., late Friday.
Gervais remains in custody and he is scheduled to appear in a Pembroke court.
The victim worked at Brown & MacFarlane Glass in Arnprior and left work in "good spirits," according to his boss, on the day he died. The man described Armstrong as a happy person with a lot of friends.
Armstrong, who also played guitar at The John St. Pub, graduated from Arnprior District High School in 2009, according to his Facebook profile. The accused graduated from the same high school one year earlier.
The victim and accused are also listed as Facebook friends.
OPP are still asking anyone with information about the death to call 613-432-3211 or 1-888-310-1122, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
