Three teenage girls have been charged with robbery after two Saturday night swarmings, Ottawa police say.

The first happened at the South Keys transit station at about 10:30 p.m. where police said the victim, a girl, was approached by a group of girls who took her cellphone.

The victim suffered minor injuries but she did not need medical help.

At about the same time at the same location, another girl was approached by the group and she was assaulted. She was not injured but a bag of personal property was taken from her, police said.

The three girls — a 17-year-old and a 15-year-old, both from Ottawa, as well as a 17-year-old girl from Gatineau — were jointly charged after being arrested in the area by police.

Their names cannot be released due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Two of the three suspects were released from custody and they are scheduled to appear in court in December.

The third suspect appeared in court Monday.
