Police in Gatineau are investigating a second incident of cemetery vandalism in less than a week after 23 headstones were toppled overnight Tuesday.
Police say eight of the 23 headstones at the Notre-Dame cemetery on Fournier Boulevard were damaged.
They are investigating to determine if the vandalism is linked to another case at St. François de Sales cemetery, which is just two kilometres away.
Vandals knocked over 86 headstones sometime overnight between Sept. 1 and 2.
The manager at that cemetery, Roger Gagnon, had said it was the worst act of vandalism he has seen at the site.
The severely damaged stones could cost thousands of dollars to replace and the total damage was estimated at $50,000.
Gatineau police continue to investigate both incidents.
