21-year-old man arrested after woman stabbed in Gatineau
Suspect expected to appear in court Friday
Gatineau police have arrested a 21-year-old man nearly five hours after an Ontario woman was stabbed in the city's Hull sector.
The Ontario woman, 22, was stabbed at about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Brodeur and Cure-Armand-Larocque streets, police said.
She suffered stab wounds to her chest and was taken to the Hull Hospital in serious condition. She was then transferred to The Ottawa Hospital's Civic campus.
Police said her injuries are not life-threatening.
Several witnesses were interviewed and police were initially looking for a suspect.
The 21-year-old man was arrested in Hull at about 3 p.m. after trying to flee from police. He is expected to appear in court on Friday.
The investigation continues.
