17-year-old girl struck by vehicle in Kanata
Teen will recover from head, stomach injuries, stepsister says
A 17-year-old girl was taken to hospital in serious condition after a vehicle, which was trying to pass an OC Transpo bus, struck her.
Ottawa paramedics responded to Shirley's Brook Drive and Kinross Private in Kanata at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday for a pedestrian struck.
They said a 17-year-old girl was crossing the street in front of a bus when she was struck by a passing vehicle travelling about 35 to 40 km/h.
The teen was thrown to the ground and was taken to hospital, paramedics said.
The girl suffered a head injury and abdominal injuries, but she "is going to be OK," according to her stepsister.
