RCMP in Nova Scotia say a 48-year-old man is facing several firearms-related charges after he allegedly threatened a woman with a rifle.

Police said officers were called to a home on Flag Root Lane in Eskasoni around 9:30 p.m. Friday after reports of a dispute.

Officers said an intoxicated man threatened to harm a 37-year-old woman with a gun.

The woman managed to leave the home with her children unharmed.

Police said the man was still inside the residence with the rifle, so officers evacuated nearby residents and surrounded the home.

After about two hours, police entered the home and arrested the man without incident.

He's facing charges including pointing a firearm and uttering a death threat.
