Woman says yes to taken dress

A woman broke into a Halifax bridal shop Tuesday morning, grabbed a wedding dress and ran, according to police.

A woman broke into a Halifax bridal shop Tuesday morning, grabbed a wedding dress and ran, said Halifax Regional Police.

At 4:42 a.m., police responded to a report of a break and enter at Winchester's Bridal and Formals on Dresden Row.

Witnesses reported seeing a woman smash a window, steal a wedding dress that was on display and flee down Spring Garden Road

The woman wasn't hard to recognize — she still had the dress.

The woman was arrested and the dress was returned to the store.

Const. Brian Palmeter said he wasn't sure she was actually a bride.

"We're not 100 per cent certain but we believe based on the information we've gathered that it was likely for the monetary value of the dress, that perhaps resell it or something of that nature."

Caitlin Patricia Marie Hill, 19, of Halifax faces charges of break and enter, breach of recognizance and breach of probation.

She was scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court Tuesday.

Winchester's refused to comment to CBC News on the incident, including details about the dress.

"The only thing I can tell you as a guy is that it's a white dress. That's all I can say for sure," said Palmeter.
