A concerned citizen helped chase down an erratic driver in the Clayton Park area of Halifax on Friday morning.
Rob Kidney called police around 9:45 a.m. to report a careless driver on Kearney Lake Road and Castle Hill Drive. He said the car had already hit another vehicle before it sped out of the area.
"He didn’t even attempt to stop. Parts were flying. I decided to chase him up through here," Kidney said. "I said this guy isn’t getting away. This is ridiculous."
Kidney said the suspect vehicle raced through a residential area for about a kilometre before slamming into a curb.
"Finally got a hold of him when his car died out. Now we have the police and he’s in for a world of hurt."
The driver was checked by paramedics, but he didn't appear to have been injured.
He was arrested for impaired driving.
The investigation continues.
