Two 15-year-olds from Hants County are facing child pornography charges for allegedly possessing and distributing images of a third teenager, a 15-year-old girl.

Const. Mark Skinner says it started when a 15-year-old girl shared intimate images she took of herself with a boy her own age and he is accused of sharing the images with another girl who allegedly posted the images to a chat site.

Photographs were shared through text messages and on a chat website, Skinner said.

A 15-year-old girl is charged with possession, distribution and publication of child pornography. Skinner says she's not the person who took the images.

A 15-year-old boy is charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.

More charges possible

Skinner says the three teens know each other.

Windsor RCMP say they received a complaint on Jan. 6. The two accused are scheduled to appear in Windsor provincial court on April 1.

Skinner says the investigation is ongoing and police are still considering whether images were seen by other people and if there will be further charges.

"When we seize technological images or when we seize technological platforms such as cell phones or computers often the investigation will take a longer period of time. We have to get those taken and sent over to our tech crime unit," he said.

Police say they are urging parents to talk to their children about the proper use of smart phones and technology.
