Window-smashing spree in Port Hawkesbury leads to 2 arrests
Teenagers face charges after 5 properties hit in 30 minutes
Two Cape Breton teenagers were arrested after someone went on a vandalism spree that damaged five properties in 30 minutes.
The young men, ages 17 and 16, were arrested in Port Hawkesbury and face charges of mischief over $5,000.
On Saturday at 11:30 p.m., RCMP responded to five reports of property damage. The vandals used an extendable baton to smash windows in two vehicles, a home, a local business and the post office.
All of the damage happened in the area of Granville and Queen streets in Port Hawkesbury. One vandal fled on foot when caught damaging property.
The teenagers face further charges of possessing a weapon dangerous to the public peace and breach of an undertaking. They're due in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Youth Court on May 26.
