Windgate Farm house destroyed in suspicious fire
House, barn in Windsor Junction were vacant and no one was hurt
A fire that destroyed a house and barn at Windgate Farm in Windsor Junction early Sunday is considered suspicious.
The fire started at about 2 a.m., says district fire chief Scott Shaffner.
"By the time firefighters arrived, the old house and the barn were fully engulfed in flames and some of the nearby woods were burning," he said.
Shaffner says crews knocked down the fire in about 15 minutes.
No one was hurt.
The buildings on Windgate Road were both vacant. A developer plans to build residences on the property, so the buildings were slated for demolition.
RCMP said the fire is suspicious.
Shaffner says it could be difficult to find the origin of the fire because the structures were destroyed.
