When will my street be plowed?
Streets in the Halifax Regional Municipality are plowed on a priority basis
After every storm, once the snow stops falling and the hot chocolate has cooled, the next question often is — how am I getting out of here?
In the Halifax Regional Municipality, streets are plowed on a priority basis.
The first priority is clearing main arteries, emergency routes to hospitals and fire equipment, major bus routes and snow routes in major hilly areas.
The city said its goal is to plow these streets every three hours. They then try to clear them of snow within 12 hours of the snow stopping.
The next priority streets include residential and rural roads with medium to low volume traffic, gravel roads and some private lanes the city is responsible for.
These streets are expected to be passable within 24 hours after the snowfall ends.
