The CAO of the Municipality of the District of West Hants has been charged with assault with a weapon.
The charge was laid against Cheryl Chislett, 54, following a weekend altercation.
RCMP Sgt. Al LeBlanc says officers from the Windsor detachment were called to a Martock residence around 9:45 a.m. Saturday to investigate an assault.
A 57-year-old man was transported to Hants Community Hospital and later taken to the QEII Health Sciences Centre. He has since been released.
A 54-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. She remains in hospital.
Chislett will make her first court appearance next month.
LeBlanc would not confirm the relationship between the two, but says they were well-known to each other.
Hants West Warden Richard Dauphinee says he knows Chislett has been charged, but can't comment on the case. He says staff at the municipality is scrambling to pick up Chislett's workload.
The municipality has cancelled its regular committee of the whole meeting slated for Tuesday night. Its website says the cancellation is "due to recent internal circumstances."
