The Canadian Red Cross says it's helping about a dozen people after fires in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick over the weekend.

The organization says a man and his son lost their house and all their belongings in a fire near New Glasgow, N.S., on Saturday.

A fire on George Street in Sydney, N.S., gutted a house, but no one was home at the time on Saturday night.

The Red Cross says another blaze damaged a four-storey apartment unit yesterday in Dieppe, N.B.

No one was injured in any of the fires.
