University enrolment in Nova Scotia edged up again last year, largely thanks to the growing number of international students.
The Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission annual report shows there were 43,582 full and part-time students in the province last year.
Nearly 6,000 were from outside Canada.
The commission released the report on Monday.
New Brunswick had close to 22,246 students enrolled in the 2011 to 2012 school year and Prince Edward Island had 4,500.
The bulk of students in Nova Scotia were enrolled in a general arts or science degree.
