A 68-year-old driver from the United States has died after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 101 in Annapolis County early Thursday morning, say police.

RCMP officers said a pickup truck travelling westbound left the road and hit an embankment at around 4:30 a.m. at Exit 23A in Cornwallis. Fire crews had to use the Jaws of Life to remove the driver from the truck.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
