Two men hurt in Dartmouth home invasion
A man forced his way into a Dartmouth, N.S., home and assaulted two men early Sunday, police said.
Staff Sgt. Reid McCoombs of Halifax Regional Police said the break and enter happened just before 1 a.m. on Mountain Avenue. The man forced his way inside the residence and attacked a 23-year-old man who lived there.
"The victim’s father, who is 55 years of age, attempted to intervene and he was also assaulted," McCoombs said Sunday.
The assailant fled on foot before police arrived.
A 20-year-old man was arrested over the incident at 4:10 a.m. near Mountain Avenue.
The two victims were treated in hospital and released.
Police said the suspect and victim know each other. The accused will be in Dartmouth Provincial Court Monday to answer charges of break and enter and two counts of assault causing bodily harm.
